Saxophonist Dominic Norcross brings his quartet to Café Jazz, as guests of Cardiff Jazz Society, on Thursday 25 September (8.45pm).
Norcross has worked in horn sections appearing with blues greats such as Peter Green, Snowy White and ex-Rolling Stone Mick Taylor, plus the big bands of Todd Sharpville and Eddie Martin.
He has also appeared with Don Weller and Digby Fairweather, the latter comparing Norcross to a young Zoot Sims.
Dominic has created an exciting quartet sound that plays numbers from the American song book to numbers from artists like Mile Davies, Horace Silver and Chick Corea. This year, however, has seen the emergence of the quartet as a writing force, culminating in their debut album of originals due for release on Fflach Records during summer 2008.
Cardiff audiences will have seen the young saxophonist playing with jive and swing band The Numbers Racket.
Dominic’s lively quartet also features guitarist Johnny Davies, Wayne Warlow (double bass) and drummer Nigel Williams (Ex-Georgie Fame& Van Morrison).
