CARDIFF JAZZ SOCIETY
GLEN MANBY QUARTET
Alto saxophonist Glen Manby brings his quartet to Café Jazz as guests of Cardiff Jazz Society, on Thursday 16 September. Glen has studied in New York under the guidance of luminaries George Garzone and Chico Freeman. He has developed a style influenced by American alto star Jessie Davis. His quartet embraces a wealth of musical complexity and features pianist Jim Barber, Donny Sweeney (double bass) and drummer Greg Evans. Expect excellent interpretations of jazz standards during a couple of sets of bebop, blues, ballads and latin. There will even be a few of Glen’s new, original tunes. The band starts blowing around 8.45pm.
